Quake

Description

Rage through 32 single player levels and 6 deathmatch levels of sheer terror and fully immersive sound and lighting. Arm yourself against the cannibalistic Ogre, fiendish Vore and indestructible Schambler using lethal nails, fierce Thunderbolts and abominable Rocket and Grenade Launchers.

Quake was one of the first fully 3D First-person shooter games. It has its influences from Doom in terms of gameplay, design, and story. For example, Quake features a similar arsenal of Weapons as well as teleporters. Features original to Quake, like the console, later appeared in Doom source ports. Once the official Quake source code was released, some Doom source ports incorporated portions of the Quake source. Quake has three Game Modes of play; Single Player, Cooperative, and Deathmatch, similar to the Game Modes of Doom. Like Doom, this game had demos and speedruns. However, although influencing the style of gameplay Doom had, this was the first game by id Software to feature 3D models compared to Doom's 2D sprites.

THE boomer shooter. The penultimate classic fps game... It's alright. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but I would much rather replay doom 1 or 2 or half-life again. It's a really fun game, but it's not perfect, I mean I love it's atmosphere (all the eldritch horror stuff is my JAM) and the soundtrack done by NIN is absolutely fantastic, but it starts to wane in quality around episode 3 and 4.

There is no music while I play the game. The Shareware version I have has music, and the audio options ask about the music volume. Other than that, I love it. I love the Quake games.

This game had brown walls before Call of Duty. This game had map design before Counter Strike. This game had space marines before Halo. This game had zombies before 90 percent of the mature rated game population. This game had a nail gun before nothing else since no other game had a nail gun.

Legendary game. One of the most satisfying shooters ever and the birth of online gaming. Very atmospheric and creepy at times thanks to the great soundtrack by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) which Steam does NOT provide. You can download it
